When you think of tiered skirts, you probably think of the over-the-top princess cake topper you had on your birthday cake when you turned 5, not a unique, beautiful, and even sexy wedding dress. Yes, they are perfect for ball gowns, but the modern bride can incorporate tiers into a gown’s skirt for so many different looks–dramatic, whimsical, or romantic.

Tiers can be added to Mermaid wedding dresses, A-line wedding dresses, and even high-low wedding dresses. Below are several tiered wedding dresses recently created by Anomalie.

1. Trimmed Tiers

Tiers trimmed with satin ribbon binding is the perfect addition to make your tiers really stand out.

How can I add texture to my tiered wedding dress?

At Anomalie, you can add a layer of sheet lace or lace appliqué throughout the tiers for a little more romance. You can also add a layer of sparkle tulle that will make your gown glisten! Additionally, you can add horsehair trim, which gives more definition, lift, and structure at the edge of each tier. Choose your base layer above and click “customize.” You can then refine the dress to be perfect for you and schedule a complimentary appointment with your Anomalie stylist to finalize.

What fabrics are generally used with tiered skirts?

Tulle or organza are the most common materials used for tiers, but to create a more modern look, you can use a structured fabric, like duchess satin or Mikado, or taffeta.
