	Ticino/Tessin - Lago Maggiore Accanto alla chiesa (Chiesa Nuova) sorge la palazzina che Cristoforo Orelli legò per testamento ai canonici. Costruito agli inizi del Seicento, l'edificio a tre piani è decorato di stucchi sia in facciata che all'interno. Un androne conduce nel cortile, aperto verso mezzogiorno, delimitato a nord dalla facciata con il portico e il doppio loggiato e a ovest dal corpo di fabbrica della chiesa.

Lac Majeur ist ein in den italienischen Regionen Piemont und Lombardei sowie im Schweizer Kanton Tessin gelegener, von seinem gleichnamigen Hauptzu- und -abfluss Tessin durchflossener, oberitalienischer Voralpensee. Der Lago Maggiore bedeckt eine 212,5 km² große Fläche, von der 80,1 % auf Italien, die restlichen 19,9 % auf die Schweiz entfallen. Er reicht von der südlichen Alpenkette bis an den Rand der Poebene. Wie die anderen oberitalienischen Seen entstand er beim Abschmelzen eiszeitlicher Gletscher. Vor allem im Nordteil ist er von hohen Felswänden umgeben. Der Seespiegel liegt im Mittel bei 193 m ü. M. Der See ist 66 km lang und bis zu 10 km breit. Er ist nach dem Gardasee der zweitgrößte See Italiens. Die größte Tiefe beträgt 372 m. Der Seegrund liegt also über 170 m unter dem Meeresspiegel. Damit ist der Lago Maggiore der tiefste See der Schweiz (wenngleich der tiefste Punkt weit in italienischem Gebiet liegt). Das Einzugsgebiet ist 6.386 km² groß (3.326 km² in der Schweiz und 3.060 km² in Italien). Von der Fischerei im Lago Maggiore leben mehrere Berufsfischer. Der Gesamtertrag liegt bei 150 Tonnen pro Jahr. Seit 1826 gibt es auf dem See eine Passagierschifffahrt. 1852 wurde diese vom Österreichischen Lloyd übernommen und neu organisiert. Heute betreibt die Navigazione Laghi eine Flotte von 25 Schiffen. English ----------- Lake Maggiore is the most westerly of the three large prealpine lakes of Italy and the second largest after Lake Garda. It has a surface area of about 213 km², a maximum length of 54 km and, at its widest, is 12 km. The lake basin has tectonic-glacial origins and its volume is 37 km³. Its main tributaries are the Ticino, the Maggia, the Toce (by which it receives the outflow of Lake Orta) and the Tresa (which is the sole emissary of Lake Lugano). The rivers Verzasca, Giona, and Cannobino also flow into the lake. Its outlet is the Ticino which, in turn, joins the river Po just south-east of Pavia. The lakes jagged banks are surrounded by the Prealps of Piedmont and Lombardy. The western bank is in Piedmont (provinces of Novara and Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola) and the eastern in Lombardy (province of Varese), whereas the most northerly section extends thirteen kilometres into Switzerland, where it constitutes the lowest point above sea-level in that entire country. The climate is mild in both summer and winter, producing Mediterranean vegetation, with beautiful gardens growing rare and exotic plants. Well-known gardens include those of the Isola Madre, Isola Bella and the Isole di Brissago, that of the Villa Taranto in Verbania, and the Alpinia botanical garden above Stresa.

	The Madonna del Sasso is a sanctuary in Orselina above the city of Locarno in Switzerland. It is the principal sight and goal of pilgrimage in the city. The founding of the sanctuary goes back to a vision of the Virgin Mary that the Franciscan brother Bartolomeo d'Ivrea experienced in the night of 14/15 August 1480. The interior is highly decorated, and a platform gives a magnificent view of the city. Corippo is a municipality in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. With a population of just 17 as of December 2004, it is the smallest municipality in Switzerland. Despite this, it possesses the trappings of communities many times its size: an official website (www.corippo.ch), its own coat of arms, a village church, a restaurant, and a mayor who leads a town council consisting of three local citizens. The village has maintained its status as an independent entity since its incorporation in 1822.

	Fortsetzung von Part 1 Continuation of part 1 Das Sanktuarium Madonna del Sasso steht in Orselina oberhalb der Stadt Locarno und ist die bekannteste Wallfahrtskirche der italienischsprachigen Schweiz. Das Sanktuarium ist berühmt wegen seiner bedeutenden Ausstattung und seiner exponierten Lage hoch über Locarno und dem Lago Maggiore. Die Gründung von Madonna del Sasso geht auf eine Muttergotteserscheinung zurück, die der Franziskanerbruder Bartolomeo d'Ivrea vom Franziskanerkloster in Locarno in der Nacht vom 14. auf den 15. August 1480 (Mariä Himmelfahrt) hatte. Zwischen 1485 und 1487 wurde die erste Kapelle auf dem Hügel erbaut. Zwei weitere Kapellen in der näheren Umgebung und eine kleine Behausung, die später zur Casa del padre erweitert wurde, folgten. Am Fusse des Berges entstand noch zu Lebzeiten Bartolomeos die Verkündigungskirche (Annunciata), in der später (1511 bis 1513) seine sterblichen Reste aufgenommen wurden. Von der Verkündigungskirche führt die Via Crucis mit zwölf Kreuzwegkapellen, die Szenen der Leidensgeschichte Christi darstellen, zur Madonna del Sasso hinauf. Die heutige Fassade im Stil der Neurenaissance stammt aus dem ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert nach Entwürfen des Architekten Alessandro Ghezzi aus Lamone. Mit diesen Veränderungen von 1890 hat die Kirche ihre alte, volkstümliche, franziskanische Schlichtheit verloren, die sie bis dahin bewahrt hatte. Seit 1918 ist sie eine Basilica minor. In den Jahren 1977 bis 1984 erfolgte die letzte grosse Renovierung zum 500. Jahrestag der Madonna del Sasso durch Luigi Snozzi. Von Locarno führt die Standseilbahn Funicolare LocarnoMadonna del Sasso zum Sanktuarium hoch. Nebst der Tal- und der Bergstation existieren verschiedene weitere Haltestellen. 	Golino (Ticino/Tessin)
	Golino liegt unterhalb von Intragna, nur wenige km vom Lago Maggiore entfernt und besticht durch einen gut erhaltenen Ortskern. Es gibt viel zu entdecken.................! Ob mit dem Namen der Schauspielerin Valeria Golino und dem Ortsnamen Golino eine Verbindung besteht, wissen wir nicht.
